Summary 2014

Pollen report – 2014 summary

The 2014 season was one of earlier season of the last 15 years from the point of view of the allergy risk related to the exposure to pollens. It is remarkable all the more since the previous year had been very late: from one year to another, the start dates of pollination show a gap which can reach one month.

68 pollen traps run in 2014. To note that the ones of Angers and Bassens had not been launched this year, but there were two new ones in Mulhouse and Mont de Marsan. Within the framework of specific studies, pollen traps were set up in Mareuil (Dordogne), Le Puy en Velay and Saclay for the ragweed season.

The noticeable increases in terms of pollen quantities in 2014 concern Annecy, Bourges, Melun, Paris and Saint Quentin en Yvelines stations.

On the clinical plan, year 2014 is still increasing regarding the previous years, showing the increase of the pollen allergy in France. Year classically characterized by a first peak of symptoms in April, a second high one related to grass pollens in June and another one related to ragweed pollens around the end of August and the beginning of September.
